Amundi, a major sponsor of the Alstom Open de France

The Alstom Open de France is one of the flagship stages in the European Golf Tour. This partnership, signed for three years, will therefore enable the brand to reach an international audience, while contributing to the success of the event. In 2011, the Alstom Open de France will take place between the 30th of June and the 3rd of July, at the Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Amundi and golf: sharing strong values

By becoming a sponsor of the Alstom French Open, Amundi wants to share the strong qualities which golf conveys:

  • Honesty and integrity

  • Respect for the rules, for one's opponent and for the environment

  • Perseverance and precision

  • Reflection and decision

The French Open: an historic tournament

Created in 1906 under the name of the Grand Championnat Omnium, the French Open quickly became one of the world's leading international tournaments. Having been previously strongly dominated by British players, the post-war period was marked by the internationalisation of the game: winners emerged from the four continents. In the 1970s, it incorporated the newly created European Professional Circuit (the forerunner of the PGA European Tour) and in the years to come crowned several famous winners: Severiano Ballesteros (four wins), Nick Faldo (three wins), Greg Norman (one win), Sandy Lyle (one win), etc.

After being hosted by several golf courses across France (La Boulie, Le Touquet, Chantilly, the Golf du Médoc near Bordeaux, the Lyon Golf Club, etc.), in 2002 the Open settled at the Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Today it is one of the five oldest golf tournaments in the world and continues to attract the best golfers on the planet.

The Open is an official stage in the PGA European Tour. It also counts towards the Race to Dubai (the official annual European rankings), the Official Golf World Ranking, and all the statistical rankings in the European Tour (score averages, number of putts, drive distances, etc.)

The Albatros, a demanding course

Inaugurated in 1990, the Albatros course has hosted the Alstom French Open almost without interruption since 1991. This course, as feared by amateurs as it is respected by professionals, is today considered to be one of the most prestigious in Europe, alternating between links-style landscapes and tree-lined areas. Designed around the concept of a stadium, its unusual and highly demanding final holes are often the theatre for nail-biting finishes.

Acclaimed by many players, the Albatros is the designated course for France's candidacy for the Ryder Cup in 2018.
Plébiscité par de nombreux joueurs, l’Albatros est le parcours désigné pour la candidature de la France à la Ryder Cup 2018.
