Amundi/IFC green bond strategy awarded by Environmental Finance

On 2 April, Amundi/IFC green bond strategy was named Initiative of the Year 2019 and Green Bond Fund of the Year.

Environmental Finance awards  are particularly prestigious because the winners were decided by an independent panel of judges made up of some of the biggest investors in the green, social and sustainability bond market.

One of the awards judges said: "The combination of adding to the IFC's mission and vision, the structure of the fund, and as a result the focus on the emerging markets, makes this fund unique."

The green bond strategy was also awarded “Green finance collaboration of 2018” by Climate Bonds last month, March 2019.

On February 2018, Amundi and the IFC jointly launched a new strategy, which aims to buy labelled green bonds issued by emerging markets banks. In turn, it’s hoped this would increase the bank’s capacity to finance locally climate-friendly investments.

At launching, $1.4 billion were raised. 60% of it came from institutional investors, included several European pension funds and insurance companies.
